Hello,
I was wondering what the best recorder is for the blind? I thought about using an IPad and an accessible app if it exists, but I am really unsure. So, does anyone have experience with recorders? I heard Olympuses were good, but not evrything talks. I want to be able to transfer the recordings to my computer. I want to be able to name my recordings on the fly, and record in different formats.

What kinda recorder are you looking for? It is possible that you might be best served posting this on the accessible devices board, unless you are looking for something for a puter.
i like the voice recorder. app on my Iphone. it works vary good.
are you looking to do simple voice recordings, or more professional field recordings with stereo mics and such? If you only want voice stuff, the voice memos app on the iDevices will do fine, or you can always buy a very simple voice recorder from speak to me catalog if that's all you want it for. the possibilities are absolutely endless.
I use an Olympus DS70. Despite its flimsy feeling design, I find it works really well for all sorts of recordings. I use it for field work - recording sound effects and ambient noise. I also use it for professional narration. With that you have to be very careful because you will get a little background ambience. But it has a variety of different recording options. You can change the quality - from very low bitrate to very high), you can also change the method of recording, from a wide angle of recording which dynamically affects the left and right channels, to narrow which is much better for recording. Most of the device is accessible. The file names aren't spoken, but the folders and settings are. You just need to keep track of which files are in which folders. It should be noted that it saves in WMA, but you can change it to MP3 with a converter.
